The 2019/2020 Annual General Meeting of Matlock Area U3A was due to be held at the Imperial Rooms, Imperial Road, Matlock, DE4 3NL on Monday 23rd March 2020, when the guest speaker would have been lecturer and freelance writer Fran Sandham giving a talk entitled “A Solo Walk Across Africa”.
Due to the Covid situation, this has had to be cancelled. In order to conform to both our own constitution and Charity Commission rules, we have to make another attempt to convene the AGM within 3 months. We have therefore scheduled a “virtual” AGM using Zoom on 22nd June 2020 at 2 pm, to which all members will be invited. We have to do this to formally elect new Committee members to replace those of us who have finished their term. Since not all members will wish to attend the Zoom meeting (especially as we will not have any guest speaker), members will also have the chance to elect the new Committee members and approve minutes, accounts, etc. by e-mail beforehand. It is very important that members respond to this as we have to reach a quorum of 15% of the membership (between the e-mail response and Zoom). These necessary but unusual arrangements have been sanctioned by the Third Age Trust and Charity Commission.
