Have you always wanted to investigate your Family History but are unsure where to start? Are you put off by the cost of subscriptions to Genealogy software? Have you started but got stuck? Why not come along to our friendly Family History Group. We have people with varying levels of experience and advice is free! Each meeting we look at two or three subjects and learn from one another. We can help with topics like where to get free information, what charts / software are good for storing your own records, drawing family trees, etc. and how best to use them, what subscription services can give you, and at what cost? Each member is encouraged to bring details of some unusual fact that they have discovered to each meeting.
There are so many aspects to the subject and so many paths to explore….

The Family History Group meets in the Derbyshire Records Office, Matlock, on the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. This has a wealth of information available as well as free (at present) internet access to the many on-line genealogical databases, and part of each meeting is usually led by one or more of our members with particular experience in using one of the resources available in the Library.
We welcome beginners to join us on a fascinating journey together.
There is usually a small charge (£2- £3) to attend meetings to cover room hire costs.
Potential new members should contact the coordinators who can be contacted by email,
