We aim to organise about 4 outings/day trips a year, travelling by coach to a variety of venues including large gardens, exhibitions and museums, cities and theatre trips. This is an open group and all u3a members are welcome.
The trips are not open to non-u3a members and only assistance dogs are allowed on the coach.
Please email Jill and Pearl, the group coordinators at outings@matlockareau3a.org.uk to make a provisional booking. Please provide an emergency contact name and number when booking.
Payment is by cheque, payable to Matlock Area u3a or by bank transfer
We do not offer refunds if you cancel your booking but will accept a substitute if you can find someone to take your place.

September – visit to Leeds for some to go to the theatre and others to explore the city

Lowry Salford Trip Wednesday 19 March 2025
The first Outing Group trip of the year will be by coach to The Lowry, Salford Quays on Wednesday 19th March 2025 with the option of a theatre visit to see “Pride and Prejudice (sort of…)” direct from its triumph in the West End where it won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy. Salford Quays is a unique waterfront area offering lots of interesting things to see and do. Those not wanting to go to the theatre could book the coach only and visit any of the other attractions such as the LS Lowry permanent collection, or Media City, or the Imperial War Museum North.

Departure from Slacks: 9.30am. Return from Salford Quays approx. 5pm. Coach £23.
Tickets to see “Pride and Prejudice, sort of…” starting at 2pm : £44.50.
Group discount is one free ticket for every 11 purchased. The discount will vary depending on how many people above 11 purchase a ticket.

We should arrive in time for morning coffee and lunch. The Lowry Bar and Kitchen serves food daily from 12 till 30 minutes before the performance, and the Lowry Coffee Shop serves snacks and drinks. There are other eating places nearby.
Please contact us at outings@matlockareau3a.org.uk by 20 January latest to make a provisional booking. As soon as we have a provisional number we will ask you to make an actual payment before 31 January as the theatre reservation period is limited and we have to pay in advance to secure the seats.
