Boules

Whilst it could be likened to “aerial bowls”, it is a team game which is great fun, requiring its own skills and use of tactics! However the rules are simple and, should you wish to learn them, may be found by clicking here.

Boules is an established and thriving activity in the Derbyshire Dales. Matlock Area U3A formed our first group in 2014 and added two more in 2016.

Boules Un

This group plays on Monday morning for about one and a half hours, starting at 10.30am and has capacity for new members.

Boules Deux

Mmm Time for a Measure

This group plays on Wednesday afternoon, also for around one and a half hours, starting at 2.00pm and has capacity for new members.

Boules Trois

This group plays on Friday mornings, also for around one and a half hours, starting at 10:45am. This group is fully subscribed and has a waiting list.

Boules d’Hiver

In 2016 some of the hardier members of each group expressed a wish to continue playing through the winter and formed “Boules d’hiver”. This group commences play in the autumn as the others finish and continues until spring, when the others start again…
