Wind Recorders

U3A Wind Recorders during the pandemic

Whilst we are prohibited from meeting in groups during the pandemic, Recorder Group is meeting every Monday afternoon on Zoom. (Because of the time delays in transmitting sound, we can play with only one microphone switched on!!!!! We take turns to “lead” a tune and the remaining muted participants play along – a “pseudo-duet”!)

New members are welcome! (Playing on Zoom is a good way to to get back into playing because you can build up confidence whilst no-one can hear!)

 Normal Operation

When we are permitted to meet again, we will resume fortnightly sessions in a hired hall, 2-4pm on the 2nd and 4th Monday afternoons of each month. Cost will depend on how many people will permitted to meet at any one time. We currently have ten active members.

We play in two, three or four parts and enjoy a wide range of musical styles. We purchase our own scores and/or practice copies, and have our own instruments and stands.

If you know your recorder fingers and can read a simple score, give us a try!
