What Is U3A All About?

Learn, Laugh, Live….

Please watch this video. It should give you a good idea of what the U3A is and what our members get out of it

Just retired and don’t know what to do?

Feeling lonely or bored? Need to get out more?

Want to make new friends?

New to the area and don’t know anyone here?

Always wanted to …. but didn’t have the time…. didn’t know where to start…. didn’t know anyone else who was interested….

No excuse now! Come and join us!

Matlock Area U3A is one of over 1000 local U3A groups across the country with over 425,000 members. Its national governing body is known as the Third Age Trust (TAT). There are also U3A organisations in countries around the world from Australia to China to Siberia (check out the worldwide network). The first U3A was established in Toulouse, France in 1973. The first UK one was set up in Cambridge in 1982.

The u3a national website can be accessed at https://www.u3a.org.uk/   and is well worth a look, with information on learning opportunities, workshops and events, and support for both new and existing groups.
