The purpose of these groups is to develop the ability of members to converse in French.

Please note that French Conversation "Un" is currently closed to new members, but French Conversation "Deux" has been created recently and would welcome new members.

French Conversation Un

Meetings are held on a roll-over system every fortnight and although they are geared to French conversation we try to make it more of a French group for people who enjoy France and trying to speak French.

Members range from the experienced to those who are rusty or have a small knowledge but enjoy stretching themselves further. Dictionaries are always at hand. Sometimes the meeting will be an afternoon one, other times we may have a lunch, or French supper, and we will also have meetings where we meet and watch a French DVD. Everything will be arranged one or two meetings ahead so that a forward agenda is prepared.

French Conversation 1 meets fortnightly, usually in Cromford, for two hours. Exact days and times vary, but can be ascertained from the group coordinator, Pat Gillson, who can be contacted by email by clicking on her name, or by telephone on 0787 601 3230.

French Conversation Deux

French Conversation Group 2 meets twice a month on a Tuesday at 2.00pm until 3.30pm at All Saints Church Hall on Smedley Street, Matlock. There is a small charge for the hire of the room, payable on the day.

Anyone interested who has a basic understanding of French is welcome and conversation will be based around a different topic at each session, part of which will include conversational phrases, vocabulary and grammar.

The aim is to enable members to increase their confidence in the spoken language and enjoy glimpsing the French way of life. All members are encouraged to contribute topics and ideas to make the sessions broad, interesting and fun.

The Group Coordinators are Lesley Shawe and Hazel Finch. In the first instance please contact Lesley by email by clicking on her name or by telephone on 07818 025568.
