The Film Club group was set up at the end of 2016 and is for everyone who loves films but might wish to share their thoughts with other enthusiasts!

It will work along the lines of a book group – members, in turn, choose a film every month, followed by meeting up informally to discuss that film on the second Wednesday of the month between 2 and 4 pm.

The coordinator will notify members in advance of the chosen film and they will meet at 'The Duke of Wellington' public house which has a large car park - 115 Wellington Street, Matlock, DE4 3GX.

Local cinemas such as Cineworld - Chesterfield, Quad - Derby, The Ritz - Belper and The Northern Light Cinema - Wirksworth are available to us. Members are free to see the films individually or in small self-organised groups at a time and venue to suit them.

It is hoped that , as in a book group, members would opt to see a film that they might normally reject, but could be pleasantly surprised and really enjoy it! Of course, if the film really does not appeal, members can ‘skip’ that month.

If you are interested in joining this group or need further information, please contact the coordinator.
